Get Involved in Improving the Quality of Your Life!

Support Group Sessions

Come and experience what happens in a support group and learn what may help you and those you care about. Us TOO support group leaders will be creating “caring and information sharing” opportunities during the conference by providing support group sessions. The sessions will give those new to the support group experience an opportunity to learn how they can benefit and to meet other attendees. Lunchtime support group sessions on Friday and Saturday will be grouped by men who are newly diagnosed with PCa, those with recurrent PCa, and those with advanced disease, but everyone is welcome to attend, including men without PCa, partners and family members.

Partner & Family Member Sessions

FRIDAY
You Matter Too! Affirming, Empowering and Supporting PCa Caregivers
Presented by UsTOO

So many lives are touched by prostate cancer today. Nearly every man with PCa has a spouse or partner, loved one, or friend there beside him experiencing the journey in their own unique way. These are the caregivers and the hidden survivors. A caregiver's challenges may not show up on a lab chart, yet they are equally real, painful, and usually transformational. Their stories need to be told and are often forgotten. Please join us for an informative panel discussion presented by several "PCa Partners", discussing the challenges, pitfalls, and hidden blessings in the journey of THEIR experience with prostate cancer.

SATURDAY
Developing “Spiritude”

Presented by Ric Masten

Through poetry and pointed stories, Ric Masten will share how he and his caregivers (wife and eldest daughter) have worked as a team during his six-year battle with cancer. Ric believes that when he was diagnosed with PCa the whole family was afflicted with the disease. He will share poems, both amusing and insightful, that point out the basic differences in the way men and woman handle crisis. He will also touch on aging and the value of journal writing, and share some of the poems that his daughter and wife have written during the ups and downs of this prostate cancer odyssey. His goal is to infuse both spirit and attitude to the attendees of this session, filling the room with SPIRITUDE!
